About the position

As a Personal Care Assistant (PCA) at Redstone Presbyterian SeniorCare, you will play a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for our residents. This position is available in both full-time and part-time capacities, with guaranteed hours and priority access to Health Aide Training. In this role, you will provide essential psychosocial support and personal care to clients, which includes assisting with bathing, oral hygiene, hair care, and dressing. You will also help clients with mobility, including walking and transferring, and assist with prescribed exercises. Your responsibilities will extend to meal preparation, medication assistance, and providing homemaking services. Observing and documenting client status is also a critical part of your role, ensuring that all care provided is accurately recorded and communicated. Responsibilities

  • Provide psychosocial support and personal care to the client, including bathing, oral hygiene, hair care, shampooing, shaving, skin care, nail care, foot care, and dressing.
  • Assist client with mobility, including walking, transferring, turning, and positioning, including the use of transfer devices such as the Hoyer lift and transfer board.
  • Assist client with prescribed exercises to which the client and the aide have been trained.
  • Assist with toilet and incontinence care, including assistance with urinal, bedside mode, toilet use, and bedpan.
  • Plan, shop, prepare, or assist with nutritious meals and prescribed diets; includes cleanup of kitchen area.
  • Assist clients to self-administer medications and verbally prompt or assist clients to respond to electronic medication reminder systems.
  • Provide homemaking services, such as bed making, light housework, laundering, and errand running with client/family's agreement.
  • Observe, report, and document client status and the care or service furnished.

Requirements

  • Must possess a valid Pennsylvania Driver's License in good standing, free of traffic violations.
  • Excellent driving skills with good judgment and reliable, independent transportation for use when assignment includes travel between campuses on the same day.
  • Must possess a High School Diploma or GED.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a caregiving role or similar position is preferred.
  • Certification in CPR and First Aid is a plus.
