As a Personal Care Assistant (PCA), you will play a crucial role in providing support to a male quadriplegic client who requires assistance with daily living activities. The position is part-time, specifically during weekend mornings, and involves a variety of tasks aimed at ensuring the client's comfort and well-being. The working hours are Saturday mornings from 6:30 AM to 10:00 AM and Sunday mornings from 6:00 AM to 9:30 AM. Your responsibilities will include administering morning medications (excluding narcotics), assisting with range of motion exercises, dressing the client while he is in bed, and transferring him to his wheelchair using a ceiling track system and electric hoist, which eliminates the need for manual lifting. Additionally, you will help with personal hygiene tasks such as washing hair, feeding breakfast, and ensuring the client is presentable for the day ahead. This role is particularly suited for individuals who are dependable and reliable, as the client emphasizes the importance of having someone who shows up consistently. Experience in personal care is not a requirement, as the client values personality traits such as humor, patience, and the ability to get along well with others. The PCA will be expected to create a positive and supportive environment, making the mornings enjoyable for the client while fulfilling essential care tasks. This position offers a unique opportunity to make a significant difference in someone's life while working in a friendly and light-hearted atmosphere.
