About the position

Maxim Healthcare Services is seeking a dedicated Personal Care Assistant (PCA) to provide essential support services to pediatric clients in a school setting. The PCA will work closely with students who may have intellectual disabilities, ensuring they receive the personal, physical mobility, and therapeutic care they need. This role is crucial in helping students navigate their daily activities and develop independent skills in a 1:1 capacity. The working hours for this position are from 8:00 am to 2:00 pm or 7:30 am to 2:15 pm, Monday through Friday, with a competitive pay rate of $18 per hour. In this role, the PCA will be responsible for a variety of tasks that are integral to the health and well-being of the clients. This includes providing health care tasks, personal hygiene services, and other related support services. The PCA will assist with transfers and ambulation, perform incidental household services that are part of a personal care plan, and provide companionship through engaging activities such as reading and conversation. Additionally, the PCA will help clients develop independent skills through self-care activities, report any changes in client status, and perform other duties as assigned. Responsibilities

  • Provides services to persons who need help with day-to-day activities
  • Provides health care tasks, personal hygiene services, and other related support services essential to the client's health
  • Assists with transfers and ambulation
  • Performs incidental household services that are an integral part of a personal care plan
  • Provides companionship by reading, listening and talking with client
  • Assists client in the development of independent skills through self-care activities such as toileting, clothing routines and personal hygiene
  • Appropriately reports changes in client status or as directed by care plan
  • Performs other duties as assigned/necessary

Requirements

  • State licensure or certification as required by state and/or program
  • One (1) year relevant experience preferred
  • Current BLS Card (Offered if needed)
  • Current PPD or Chest X-Ray (Offered if needed)
  • Child Abuse Clearance (Offered if needed)
  • FBI Fingerprints (Offered if needed)
  • Knowledge of child growth and development
  • Ability to coordinate and facilitate services between the home, school, local health agency, and other community resources
  • Ability to effectively elicit/provide information to and from appropriate individuals (including, but not limited to, supervisors, co-workers, clients) via strong communication skills; proficiency in the English language may be required
  • Computer proficiency required
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
