About the position

We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Personal Care Assistant to provide high-quality care to our patients. As a Personal Care Assistant, you will be responsible for assisting patients with daily living activities and providing emotional support. This role requires a strong foundation in medical-surgical care, with experience working in a hospital setting or clinic. If you are dedicated to delivering exceptional care and are passionate about patient well-being, we encourage you to apply. In this position, you will assist patients with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, and grooming. You will provide personal care, such as toileting, feeding, and managing incontinence. Monitoring and reporting any changes in patient condition to healthcare professionals is crucial, as is assisting with medication administration and management. You will also support patients with mobility and physical therapy needs, engage in conversation, and provide emotional support to patients. Participation in care conferences and contributing to the development of patient care plans will be part of your responsibilities, along with maintaining a clean and safe environment for patients.

Responsibilities

  • Assist patients with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, and grooming.
  • Provide personal care, such as toileting, feeding, and managing incontinence.
  • Monitor and report any changes in patient condition to healthcare professionals.
  • Assist with medication administration and management.
  • Support patients with mobility and physical therapy needs.
  • Engage in conversation and provide emotional support to patients.
  • Participate in care conferences and contribute to the development of patient care plans.
  • Maintain a clean and safe environment for patients.

Requirements

  • Experience in medical-surgical care, preferably in a hospital setting or clinic.
  • Familiarity with emergency medicine and ability to respond to crisis situations.
  • Knowledge of PICU and Level I Trauma Center care.
  • Ability to work effectively in an inpatient setting.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations.
  • Certification in medical-surgical care or related field is preferred.

Nice-to-haves

  • Teaching hospital experience is a plus.
  • BLS Certification (Preferred)
