About the position

The Personal Care Assistant (PCA) role is designed for compassionate individuals who provide essential support to clients in need of assistance with daily living activities. This position is crucial for ensuring the comfort and well-being of clients, particularly in high-acuity healthcare settings such as trauma centers or teaching hospitals. The PCA will assist with personal hygiene, mobility, companionship, and monitoring health status, making a significant impact on the lives of those they serve.

Responsibilities

• Assist clients with personal hygiene tasks including bathing, grooming, and dressing.
• Help with mobility and transfers to ensure safety and comfort.
• Provide companionship and emotional support to clients.
• Monitor and report changes in clients' health status to appropriate healthcare professionals.
• Assist with meal preparation and feeding when necessary.
• Maintain a clean and safe environment for clients.
• Document care provided and any observations regarding client condition or behavior.
• Collaborate with healthcare teams to deliver comprehensive care.

Requirements

• Previous experience as a Personal Care Assistant or in a similar role is preferred.
• Familiarity with medical-surgical, inpatient, outpatient, emergency medicine, or hospital medicine settings is beneficial.
• Ability to work effectively in high-pressure environments such as Level I or Level II Trauma Centers.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to build rapport with clients.
• Compassionate nature with a commitment to providing quality care.
• Must be able to pass background checks as required by healthcare regulations.

Nice-to-haves

• Certification in CPR or first aid is a plus but not mandatory.
