The Personal Care Assistant (PCA) position involves providing essential personal care and homemaker/companion services to clients under the supervision of a Care Coordinator or Care Coordinating Supervisor. The PCA is responsible for ensuring the comfort and well-being of clients, particularly the elderly or disabled, by performing a variety of tasks that promote health and safety in the home environment. This role requires a compassionate individual who can follow a written Plan of Care and communicate effectively with clients and their families. The PCA will be assigned specific clients and will work closely with them to meet their personal care needs, which may include assistance with daily living activities and household tasks. In this role, the PCA will perform household services that are essential to health care at home, such as meal preparation, laundry, light housekeeping, and reminding patients to take their medications. Personal care activities will also be a significant part of the job, including bathing, grooming, and dressing clients. Additionally, the PCA will be responsible for routine housekeeping duties, grocery shopping, and accompanying clients to appointments and social activities. It is crucial for the PCA to report any changes in the client's condition to the Care Coordinator and to document the care provided accurately. The PCA must maintain a safe environment for clients by adhering to infection control practices and agency guidelines. Effective communication with agency staff and participation in team meetings are also essential components of this position. The PCA is expected to maintain confidentiality and complete annual skills competency validation, as well as attend in-service programs to meet compliance requirements. This position offers both full-time and part-time opportunities, with a pay range of $15.90 to $17.00 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.
