About the position

The Home Health Aide/Personal Care & CNA Attendant position is designed to assist enrollees with essential activities of daily living and household tasks, enabling them to remain in their homes as an alternative to nursing facility care. This role involves providing education on the preparation of nutritious meals and fostering interpersonal and social skills to help enrollees live independently in a community setting. The services provided are crucial for ensuring a safe environment that meets the health and welfare needs of the enrollees. The position requires a compassionate individual who can function independently and respond to the needs of clients who may be ill, elderly, or disabled. The Home Health Aide will work under the supervision of the Area Manager and will not have any direct reports. The role is part-time, with expected hours of around 25 per week, primarily during the day shift from Monday to Friday, with some weekend availability as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Provides mouth and denture care.
  • Assists with shaving and grooming hair (shampooing, combing, oiling, etc.).
  • Helps with bathing or bed baths (partial or complete).
  • Assists with dressing and toileting (bed pan, commode/chair, or urinal).
  • Reminds clients to take medication (no administering medication).
  • Helps with eating and attending appointments.
  • Assists with transfers and repositioning of enrollees.
  • Supports ambulation and mobility.
  • Cleans the kitchen, washing dishes, and cleaning appliances as needed.
  • Ensures that all areas used by the enrollee are clean and in order.
  • Prepares shopping lists and runs errands.
  • Serves meals and assists with laundry, light ironing, and clothing storage.
  • Sweeps, mops, vacuums, and dusts as needed.
  • Makes and changes bed linens.
  • Performs all other duties assigned.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • High school graduate or GED required.
  • Ability to read and write adequately to complete required forms and reports.
  • Ability to function independently without constant supervision.
  • Interest and empathy for people who are ill, elderly, or disabled.
  • Emotional maturity and responsible response to clients and situations.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Reliable transportation to enrollee homes.
  • Must pass background checks (Criminal History, Sex Offender, Registry, Abuse Registry, and TBI Registry).
  • Completes and submits monthly review sheets in a timely manner.
  • Participates in daily phone log monitoring system of enrollee services.
  • Attends regularly offered in-services and demonstrates learned competencies.
  • Understands and adheres to policies and procedures.
