A Pineywoods Home Health is seeking a dedicated Personal Care Assistant (PCA) to join our team in Joaquin, TX. This part-time position is ideal for individuals who are passionate about providing care to the elderly and infirmed in a home setting. As a PCA, you will play a crucial role in enhancing the quality of life for our clients by assisting them with daily living activities and ensuring their comfort and safety. In this role, you will be responsible for performing a variety of personal care tasks as outlined in the Plan of Care or Individual Service Plan. Your duties will include assisting clients with bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting, and mobility. You will also help with self-administered medications, meal preparation, and light housekeeping tasks related to the client's care. It is essential to maintain the dignity and rights of each client while providing compassionate and respectful care. You will report any changes in the client's condition to the appropriate supervisor and ensure that all tasks are completed efficiently and effectively. This position requires a commitment to working as scheduled, including weekends as needed, and the ability to communicate effectively with clients and their families. You will need reliable transportation to travel to clients' homes and perform your duties. Responsibilities

  • Assist with or provide personal care duties as outlined in the Plan of Care or Individual Service Plan.
  • Perform bathing, grooming, and dressing tasks for clients.
  • Assist clients with toileting needs using bedpans or commodes.
  • Help clients with mobility and transfers using appropriate devices.
  • Prepare meals and assist clients with feeding as needed.
  • Perform light housekeeping duties related to the client's care, ensuring cleanliness in areas used by the client.
  • Launder client's clothes and assist with grocery shopping as required.
  • Escort clients to medical appointments and assist with errands as needed.
  • Report any abnormal conditions or changes in the client's behavior or health to the supervisor.
  • Ensure that the rights of the client are maintained and respected.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated ability to read, write, and communicate effectively.
  • Ability to complete service delivery records (time sheets).
  • Ability to follow specific directions related to personal care tasks and light housekeeping duties.
  • Availability of personal, reliable transportation.
  • Ability to work in various and stressful environments.
  • Ability to relate well with clients and families.
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 25 pounds and push/pull up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to analyze and handle emergency situations.
  • Ability to manage time wisely and complete daily tasks.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in senior care is preferred.
  • Valid Driver's License is preferred.
