About the position

The Personal Care Assistant (PCA) role is designed for compassionate individuals who provide essential support to patients in various healthcare settings, including Level II Trauma Centers and teaching hospitals. The PCA is responsible for assisting patients with daily living activities, monitoring vital signs, and ensuring a clean and safe environment, all while delivering high-quality care and emotional support to enhance the patient experience.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients with daily living activities such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and eating.
• Monitor and record patient vital signs and report any changes to nursing staff.
• Provide companionship and emotional support to patients, enhancing their overall experience.
• Help with mobility by assisting patients in moving from one location to another within the facility.
• Maintain a clean and safe environment for patients by adhering to infection control protocols.

Requirements

• Previous experience as a Personal Care Assistant or similar role preferred.
• Knowledge of geriatrics and inpatient care practices is highly desirable.
• Familiarity with emergency medicine procedures and protocols is a plus.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment within a Level II Trauma Center or teaching hospital setting.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with healthcare teams.
• Compassionate demeanor with a genuine desire to help others in their time of need.
• Must be able to pass background checks and any required health screenings prior to employment.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in teaching hospitals.
• BLS Certification (Preferred)
• Driver's License (Preferred)
