About the position

A Pineywoods Home Health is seeking a dedicated Personal Care Assistant (PCA) to join our team in providing exceptional care to patients in their home setting. In this role, you will be responsible for performing various personal care tasks and household duties related to the care of aged or infirmed individuals. Your contributions will be vital in ensuring that our clients receive the highest quality of care in a comfortable and familiar environment. As a PCA, you will assist clients with personal care duties as outlined in their Plan of Care or Individual Service Plan, which may include bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting, and assisting with self-administered medications. You will also be responsible for meal preparation, light housekeeping, and laundry tasks, ensuring that the client's living space is clean and safe. Additionally, you will accompany clients to medical appointments and assist with grocery shopping as needed. Your role is crucial in maintaining the dignity and rights of our clients while providing compassionate support and care. Responsibilities

  • Assist with or provide personal care duties as outlined in the Plan of Care or Individual Service Plan and assigned by the Field Supervisor.
  • Perform personal care duties including bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting, and assisting with self-administered medications.
  • Prepare meals for clients and assist with feeding as needed.
  • Perform light housekeeping duties related to the client, ensuring that time spent on these tasks does not exceed 20% of work hours.
  • Report any abnormal conditions to the R.N. or appropriate supervisor, including unusual behavioral or medical changes in the client.
  • Ensure that the rights of the client are maintained at all times.
  • Report to work and work as scheduled and assigned by the client and field supervisor.
  • Communicate any changes to the schedule or absence from work to the coordinator at the office in advance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated ability to read, write, and communicate effectively.
  • Ability to complete service delivery records (time sheets).
  • Ability to follow specific directions related to personal care tasks and light housekeeping duties.
  • Availability of personal, reliable transportation.
  • Able to work in various and stressful environments.
  • Able to relate well with clients and families.
  • Able to work as scheduled and report to work precisely at the scheduled time.
  • Able to lift a minimum of 25 pounds and push/pull up to 50 pounds.
  • Able to analyze and handle emergency situations.
  • Able to manage time wisely and complete tasks daily.
  • Able to understand and follow universal precautions.
  • Able to read, understand, and comply with all company policies and procedures.
