About the position

We are looking for a compassionate and dedicated Personal Care Assistant to join our team and provide essential support to individuals requiring assistance. As a Personal Care Assistant, you will have a significant impact on the well-being and daily lives of our clients. This role is crucial in ensuring that clients receive the care and support they need to maintain their independence and quality of life. You will work closely with clients to understand their individual needs and preferences, tailoring your approach to provide the best possible care. Your responsibilities will include assisting clients with personal hygiene tasks, supporting mobility and transfers, administering medications, preparing meals, and performing light housekeeping duties. Additionally, you will accompany clients to appointments and social engagements, monitor their health, and offer companionship and emotional support. This position requires a strong commitment to providing high-quality care and the ability to communicate effectively with clients and their families.

Responsibilities

  • Assist clients with personal hygiene tasks, such as bathing, grooming, and dressing
  • Support clients with mobility and transfers as needed
  • Administer medications following prescribed schedules
  • Prepare and serve meals considering dietary restrictions and preferences
  • Perform light housekeeping duties to maintain a clean environment
  • Accompany clients to appointments or social engagements
  • Monitor and promptly report any changes in clients' health or behavior
  • Offer companionship and emotional support to enhance clients' quality of life

Requirements

  • Prior experience as a Personal Care Assistant or in a related position is advantageous
  • Understanding of basic caregiving techniques and principles is preferred
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and procedures would be beneficial
  • Ability to adjust care strategies based on individual client needs and preferences
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational abilities with keen attention to detail

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in Emergency medicine, Inpatient, Outpatient, Hospital medicine, Clinic settings, Level II Trauma Center, Level I Trauma Center, Geriatrics, or Teaching hospital environments is highly valued.
