About the position

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Personal Care Assistant to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will provide essential support to patients in various settings, including clinics, outpatient facilities, and medical-surgical units. This role is crucial in ensuring that patients receive the highest level of care and assistance, particularly in environments such as Level I Trauma Centers, PICUs, and teaching hospitals.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients with daily living activities such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and meal preparation.
• Monitor patient vital signs and report any changes to the nursing staff.
• Provide companionship and emotional support to patients and their families.
• Help with mobility and transportation within the facility.
• Maintain a clean and safe environment for patients by following infection control protocols.
• Document patient care activities accurately and timely.
• Collaborate with healthcare professionals in various departments including geriatrics, emergency medicine, and operating rooms (OR) to ensure comprehensive patient care.

Requirements

• Previous experience as a Personal Care Assistant or in a similar role is preferred.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and familiarity with healthcare settings such as clinics, outpatient services, and Level I Trauma Centers is advantageous.
• Experience working with diverse patient populations including geriatrics and pediatrics is a plus.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team environment.
• Compassionate demeanor with a commitment to providing high-quality patient care.
• Ability to handle sensitive situations with discretion and professionalism.
