About the position

The PCB Layout Engineer position at Insight Global involves working onsite in Sunnyvale, CA, for a leading client in the AR/VR industry. The role focuses on the design and documentation of Rigid, Flexible, and Rigid-flex PCBs, ensuring high-quality standards and seamless collaboration with contract manufacturers. The ideal candidate will manage end-to-end PCB design processes, including the creation of detailed documentation and adherence to manufacturing rulesets.

Responsibilities

  • Design and document Rigid PCBs, Flexible and Rigid-flex designs.
  • Collaborate with contract manufacturers for fabrication releases.
  • Manage end-to-end PCB/FPC design involving various components such as analog, digital, RF, camera, display, audio, sensors, and power charging.
  • Create and maintain detailed PCB documentation, including fabrication and assembly packages (Gerber files, ODB++, Bill of Materials, fabrication and assembly drawings).
  • Select appropriate materials and design optimal PCB stack-ups.
  • Ensure adherence to impedance and application of Design for Excellence (DFX) rulesets.
  • Resolve Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and manufacturing-related issues promptly.
  • Release fabrication and assembly packages into company-wide Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems.
  • Produce and manage Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) as required.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience working with Rigid PCBs, Flexible and Rigid-flex designs.
  • Experience in end-to-end PCB/FPC design involving components such as analog, digital, RF, camera, display, audio, sensors, and power charging.
  • Experience creating PCB documentation (Gerber files, ODB++, Bill of Materials, Fabrication and Assembly drawings).
  • Familiarity with Design for Excellence (DFX) rulesets and Design for Manufacturability (DFM).
  • Experience releasing fabrication and assembly packages.
  • Proficiency in using Allegro.
