About the position

The PCB Process Operations Technician at SpaceX is responsible for overseeing and optimizing production processes related to printed circuit boards (PCBs) for the Starlink project. This role involves direct interaction with engineering teams to enhance manufacturing output and yield, ensuring the quality and reliability of products. Technicians will monitor process parameters, maintain equipment, and implement improvements to drive efficiency and reduce costs in a high-volume production environment.

Responsibilities

  • Execute startup and shutdown procedures for production equipment.
  • Identify equipment and process deviations and perform corrective actions.
  • Perform necessary interventions to maintain process parameters, including chemical analysis and machine adjustments.
  • Troubleshoot, maintain, and calibrate various process equipment including plating, etching, and cleaning equipment.
  • Work with engineers to create operating procedures and maintain hardware inventory systems.
  • Identify continuous improvement opportunities for yield, performance, and cost.
  • Track schedule for preventive maintenance and calibration of equipment.
  • Perform dispositions and rework for nonconforming PCBs.
  • Provide feedback on failure modes and support engineering to drive root cause of yield limiters.
  • Train production personnel and maintain inventory of consumables.
  • Safely handle chemicals and transport waste to storage areas.
  • Recommend improvements to manufacturing processes and work with engineers to refine processes.
  • Read, interpret, and follow technical documents such as manufacturing work instructions.
  • Ensure 5S standards are upheld by maintaining a clean and organized work area.

Requirements

  • High school degree or equivalency certificate.
  • 5+ years of experience working in a hands-on technical position or an associate's degree in a STEM field.

Nice-to-haves

  • 5+ years of experience with printed circuit boards (PCBs) and microelectronics fabrication.
  • Proficient in MS Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment or wet lab.
  • Ability to read and understand P&ID and schematic wiring diagrams.
  • Experience with mechanical equipment and systems requiring repair/replacement of components.
  • Experience with lock out tag out and job hazard analysis.
  • Experience handling hazardous chemicals.
  • Experience using production and inventory management software such as MES/ERP.
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to identify and maintain priorities for tasks and projects.
