About the position

The PCB Technician (Starlink) position at SpaceX involves working in the manufacturing of printed circuit boards (PCBs) for the Starlink project, which aims to provide global broadband internet through a constellation of low Earth orbit satellites. This role is critical in ensuring the quality and reliability of the products, with responsibilities that include operating production equipment, performing quality inspections, and collaborating with engineering teams to improve manufacturing processes. The position requires a hands-on approach in a fast-paced, electro-chemical manufacturing environment, and it operates on a night shift schedule.

Responsibilities

  • Execute startup and shutdown procedures for production equipment
  • Monitor process conditions, equipment, and control systems for PCB manufacturing equipment
  • Perform first level troubleshooting and work with maintenance and engineering teams to address equipment downtime
  • Provide feedback on failure modes and support engineering to identify yield limiters
  • Train production personnel
  • Collaborate with engineers to create operating procedures
  • Track and perform preventive maintenance and calibration of equipment
  • Perform dispositions and rework for nonconforming PCBs
  • Maintain inventory of consumables
  • Recommend improvements to manufacturing processes and work with engineers to implement changes
  • Read, interpret, and follow technical documents such as manufacturing work instructions
  • Ensure 5S standards are upheld by maintaining a clean and organized work area
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school degree or equivalency certificate
  • 2+ years of experience in a hands-on technical position or an associate degree in a STEM field
  • Experience using a computer and the Microsoft Office suite

Nice-to-haves

  • 2+ years of experience with printed circuit boards (PCBs), engineering laminates, electrochemical processes, and/or microelectronics fabrication
  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience using production and inventory management software such as MES/ERP
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Ability to identify and maintain priorities for tasks and projects
  • Ability to rapidly change roles/responsibilities in a high-paced environment
  • Current or past certification for IPC-A-600, IPC-6012 or equivalent
