About the position
The PCU RN position at Legacy Personnel, Inc. involves providing specialized nursing care in a progressive care unit, focusing on pre- and post-operative heart surgery patients, as well as neurosurgical patients. The role requires strong cardiac skills and experience in trauma medicine, with a commitment to high-quality patient care in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Provide nursing care for pre- and post-operative heart surgery patients and neurosurgical patients.
- Monitor and manage patients with complex medical conditions including cardiac and neurological issues.
- Administer medications and manage IV insulin protocols, cardiac drips, and vasoactive drips.
- Perform telemetry monitoring and interpretation of dysrhythmias.
- Assist in rapid response situations and manage post-cardiac procedures such as angiograms and surgeries.
- Care for ventilated patients and manage tracheostomy and airway interventions.
Requirements
- Valid RN License
- BLS Certification
- 2 years recent experience in a specialty area
- ACLS Certification
- Strong cardiac skills with proficiency in titration of insulin drips and defibrillation
- EPIC experience
- LA Fire card (to be obtained within 30 days)
Nice-to-haves
- Level I or II trauma experience
- Experience in PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown work settings
- Experience with telemetry monitoring and remote monitoring
- Experience in managing patients with renal failure and hemodialysis
