About the position
Mt. Clemens Montessori Academy is seeking a dedicated and passionate Physical Education (PE) Teacher for the upcoming school year. The ideal candidate will possess a valid teaching certification and endorsement, demonstrating a commitment to the Montessori philosophy of education. At Mt. As a K-5 school, we maintain a commitment to the Montessori Method by ensuring that every classroom has a minimum of two trained Montessori staff members. Our teachers are immersed in Montessori training each year, allowing them to focus on the individual needs of their students. This collaborative approach has led to improved test scores without making standardized testing the focal point of our curriculum. Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a comprehensive physical education curriculum that aligns with Montessori principles.
- Promote physical fitness and healthy lifestyle choices among students.
- Create a safe and engaging learning environment for all students during physical activities.
- Collaborate with other teachers to integrate physical education into the overall curriculum.
- Assess and evaluate student progress in physical education and provide feedback to students and parents.
- Encourage teamwork, sportsmanship, and respect among students during physical activities.
Requirements
- Valid teaching certification and endorsement in Physical Education.
- Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field.
- Understanding of the Montessori Method and its application in education.
- Ability to create a positive and inclusive classroom environment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience working in a Montessori school setting.
