About the position
The Pediatric Classroom Assistant at Manchester Pediatric Medical Day Care is responsible for providing daily care and activities for children in a medical daycare setting. This role involves maintaining a professional demeanor, adhering to established care procedures, and ensuring the safety and well-being of the children. The assistant will work closely with the Activities Director and nursing staff to implement planned activities and respond to any changes in the children's conditions.
Responsibilities
- Provide routine daily care and activities for children in the assigned room.
- Maintain a professional demeanor while adhering to care and activity procedures.
- Record all entries on flow sheets, charts, and communication books.
- Report accidents, incidents, and changes in children's conditions to the RN immediately.
- Assist the Activities Director with implementing planned activities.
- Perform child care activities including developmental stimulation, toilet training, and clothing changes.
- Lift, move, and transport children as needed.
- Assist in the transportation of children to/from home and during class trips.
- Prepare children for meals and assist with feeding as necessary.
- Perform after meal care, including cleaning and hygiene tasks.
- Notify the nurse immediately of any child leaving or missing from the facility.
- Wear identification badges at all times and follow infection control policies.
- Participate in center clean-up at the end of the program day.
- Report equipment and supply needs to the RN.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- MAV, AHA CPR/AED certification required.
- Pediatric experience preferred.
