About the position

The Pediatric ICU Nurse Practitioner I/II provides advanced clinical expertise in the management of pediatric patients in critical care settings. This role involves independent patient management, including the assessment and treatment of chronic and acute medical conditions, as well as performing various medical procedures. The Nurse Practitioner acts as a resource for healthcare providers and participates in patient and staff education, demonstrating leadership and accountability in their practice.

Responsibilities

  • Provide independent advanced level clinical expertise to pediatric patients and their families.
  • Manage chronic stable medical conditions and provide routine and critical care.
  • Perform non-invasive and invasive procedures as per standardized protocols.
  • Act as an expert resource for healthcare providers, including nurses and residents.
  • Participate in patient and staff education and demonstrate leadership skills.
  • Document patient care and participate in admission, transfer, and discharge planning.

Requirements

  • Two years or greater recent clinical experience as a registered nurse in a PCICU or combined PICU/PCICU setting.
  • Current AHA CPR/BLS and PALS certifications.
  • National NP board certification in aligned specialty within 3 months of hire.
  • Graduation with a Master's degree, DNP or PhD in Nursing from an accredited School of Nursing.
  • Possession of valid California RN and Nurse Practitioner license without restrictions.
  • Furnishing license and DEA within 3 months of hire.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Self-direction and organizational skills to function in an independent role.

Nice-to-haves

  • Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN) certification.
  • American Heart Association (AHA) Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
  • Two years or greater recent clinical experience as a nurse practitioner in a PCICU setting.
