About the position

The Pediatric LPN position at Boston Children's Health Physicians LLP involves providing nursing care in a busy pediatric office setting. The role includes assisting physicians, managing patient care, and ensuring the smooth operation of the office. The LPN will be responsible for various clinical tasks, including taking vital signs, administering medications, and performing tests, while maintaining patient confidentiality and adhering to health regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Takes patients' vital signs, height, and weight.
  • Assists physician, prepares and stocks exam rooms.
  • Assigns patients and physicians to exam rooms.
  • Prepares daily assignment for medical support staff.
  • Communicates with front desk staff as necessary.
  • Provides direct and individualized nursing care, dressing wounds and incisions as directed by physician.
  • Assists physicians during patient exams.
  • Prepares, administers, and records medications in accordance with division policy and procedure as directed.
  • Maintains appropriate supply of medications, immunizations, and general nursing supplies.
  • Performs various testing which may include but not limited to - spirometry, EKG, urinalysis.
  • Triage phone calls, answering basic questions and referring to physician when needed.
  • Records information concisely, accurately, and completely in patient charts and/or on forms.
  • Follows up on diagnostic testing/lab results.
  • Ensures that test results are incorporated in patient chart.
  • Cleans and sterilizes equipment as necessary, calls prescriptions into pharmacies.
  • Maintains strictest confidentiality of patient's records in accordance with BCHP policy and HIPAA regulations.
  • Ability to multi-task and set priorities accordingly.
  • Other duties as necessary to ensure the smooth functioning of the office.

Requirements

  • Current LPN license in New York State.
  • Basic knowledge of pediatric nursing practices and procedures.
  • Ability to perform clinical tasks such as taking vital signs and administering medications.
  • Strong communication skills for interacting with patients and staff.
  • Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a pediatric office setting.
  • Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR).
  • Certification in CPR or BLS.
