About the position

The Pediatric Occupational Therapist (OT) position at Helping Hands Therapy Services, PLLC is designed for individuals who are passionate about helping children and their families. This role primarily involves providing outpatient therapy services in a supportive and flexible environment, with opportunities to work in Early Intervention settings. The practice is community-focused, offering services to children from birth to 21 years old, and emphasizes mentorship and professional growth for its therapists.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluating and providing treatment for pediatric clients in an outpatient clinic and possible early intervention (in-home) setting
  • Documentation of evaluations and treatment sessions
  • Screenings of students to evaluate their needs for therapy and provide recommendations as needed
  • Supervising COTAs as needed
  • Participating in various group programs such as motor skills, social skills, and handwriting groups, both in the clinic and in non-traditional therapy settings (community, daycares, private schools)
  • Treating pediatric clients in the 0-3 setting in the home or community who are part of our Early Intervention Program
  • Participating in an interdisciplinary team to complete assessments for children in need of early intervention services
  • Complete mentorship and training with a seasoned therapist to ensure competency in an early intervention setting
  • Evaluating sensory processing skills and developing sensory strategies as part of a team in collaboration with other disciplines, family, or school to assist in improving the Child's overall performance
  • Oral Motor/Feeding therapy is also provided at our clinic. Additional training, continuing education, and mentorship will be provided in this area if needed

Requirements

  • Occupational Therapy licensing in Virginia is necessary
  • Ability to obtain Virginia Early Intervention Certification
  • Valid Driver's license
  • CPR certification
  • A background check is required
  • Previous pediatric experience is preferred but not required
