About the position

The Pedorthist (CPed) at Hanger, Inc. is responsible for providing comprehensive pedorthic care to patients, including assessment, treatment planning, and device fitting. This role emphasizes collaboration with physicians and other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient outcomes. The position requires a blend of clinical expertise and technical skills to design and fabricate orthotic devices, while also focusing on patient satisfaction and operational efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with physicians in evaluating patients' needs for pedorthotic services and recommend treatment options.
  • Examine and evaluate patients' needs in relation to disease and functional loss.
  • Formulate designs for pedorthotic devices and select appropriate materials.
  • Perform fittings, including static and dynamic alignments, and adjust devices for optimal fit and function.
  • Instruct patients on the use of pedorthotic, orthotic, or prosthetic devices.
  • Identify and resolve issues to ensure patient satisfaction with provided devices.
  • Provide follow-up care and maintain communication with patients and physicians.
  • Conduct in-service training for physicians and allied health professionals.
  • Utilize effective materials management to maximize device quality and maintain cost efficiency.
  • Meet with referral sources to enhance business relationships and secure ongoing referrals.
  • Plan and implement strategies to meet revenue targets in coordination with management.
  • Document detailed clinical notes in patient records.
  • Mentor newly certified clinicians and assist other clinical staff as needed.
  • Provide information to administrative staff for reimbursement activities.
  • Adhere to safety regulations and compliance with relevant laws and standards.

Requirements

  • Current board certification in Pedorthics from the American Board for Certification (ABC) or the Board of Certification (BOC), or equivalent education and experience to meet board eligibility.
  • A valid driver's license and a driving record that meets Hanger's Motor Vehicle Safety Policy.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain state licensure where required.
  • At least 5 years of demonstrated experience in providing prosthetic and/or orthotic services under supervision, if not certified.
