The Peer Engagement Specialist will be responsible for engaging existing clients and encouraging their entry into a specialized service enhancement track - WEIP - an HIV Early Intervention program for those with a Substance Use Disorder (SUD) currently in treatment at one of LESC's six treatment modalities. This role involves mirroring the affected population and modeling the desired outcomes of learning one's HIV status, maintaining a negative status, seeking early treatment in the event of positivity, identifying current and past risk behaviors, initiating risk reduction conversations with significant others, and motivating significant others/current sex partners to also learn their status. The Peer Engagement Specialist will work closely with other WEIP team members to ensure a smooth integration of clients into the specialized wellness track within the overall SUD treatment model.
