About the position

The Peer Mentor position at Wayside Youth & Family Support Network is designed for individuals passionate about child and family empowerment, particularly those with personal experience in the behavioral health system. This role involves providing one-on-one support to young adults, promoting skill-building in various life domains, and contributing to system change through advocacy. The position is part of a multidisciplinary team and can be full or part-time, offering a supportive and inclusive work environment focused on employee wellness and career development.

Responsibilities

• Meet with individual youth in their homes or in the community.
• Work as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Use personal experience to provide hope, information, advocacy, and one-on-one support to young adults managing mental health challenges.
• Promote skill building in social functioning, symptom management, coping skills, and activities of daily living.
• Contribute to system change through policy advocacy.

Requirements

• Lived experience managing personal mental health, emotional health, and/or trauma resulting in significant life disruption.
• Willingness to share recovery story in the context of peer support.
• Valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle.
