About the position

The Peer Program Manager at NAMI Santa Cruz County is responsible for overseeing and enhancing peer support programs aimed at providing culturally sensitive mental health support to the community. This role involves supervising a team of part-time staff, coordinating program activities, and building partnerships with various stakeholders to meet the needs of individuals affected by mental illness. The manager will also engage in strategic planning, community outreach, and administrative tasks to ensure the effective delivery of services.

Responsibilities

• Supervise staff and volunteers, providing guidance and support.
• Maintain existing programs by coordinating and executing peer programs.
• Conduct program evaluations and implement necessary adjustments.
• Identify community needs and develop new programs or partnerships.
• Engage with the community through outreach and representation at events.
• Manage program budgets and monitor expenditures.
• Collect and enter relevant data into databases.
• Assist with grant writing and donor outreach.

Requirements

• Experience managing staff in a relevant field.
• Strong understanding of mental health issues and trauma-informed care.
• Exceptional emotional intelligence and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations.
• Proficiency in Google Docs and Zoom.
• Experience with budgeting and managing grants.

Nice-to-haves

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience; advanced degree preferred.
• Leadership experience in a nonprofit or volunteer-based organization.
• Knowledge of the Santa Cruz County mental health care system.
• Experience with NAMI or similar organizations.
• Familiarity with databases like Salesforce.
