About the position
The Peer Recovery Specialist at Life Connections Peer Recovery Services is responsible for providing peer-delivered support and recovery services to individuals facing mental health and substance use challenges. This role emphasizes building trusting relationships with service participants and assisting them in developing self-directed wellness and recovery plans. The position requires a commitment to ethical values and cultural competency in recovery support services.
Responsibilities
- Developing trusting and mutually respectful relationships with service participants.
- Listening deeply and without judgment to service participants and sharing one's own personal recovery journey.
- Assisting service participants to develop a self-directed wellness and recovery plan.
- Providing peer-delivered mental health and substance use recovery support services to individuals and groups.
- Collaborating with a peer support team to understand and meet the needs of each service participant.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Peer Support Specialist certification.
- Must be a person with lived experience in recovery from mental health and/or substance use challenges.
- Own reliable transportation required.
- Excellent verbal communication skills.
Nice-to-haves
- Knowledge of best practices, ethical values, and cultural competency in peer-delivered mental health and substance use recovery support services.
- Experience in delivering peer support services to individuals and groups.
