About the position

HOPE Community Services, Inc. is a leading outpatient treatment provider in south Oklahoma City, dedicated to providing compassionate trauma-informed care to individuals affected by mental health and substance use disorders. We are currently seeking a Peer Recovery Support Specialist (PRSS) for our Community Support Program. This role is crucial in delivering peer support services, advocating for clients, and assisting them in regaining control of their lives and recovery processes. The ideal candidate will have lived experience and be in recovery from a mental health or substance use disorder, making this position a perfect fit for those who understand the journey of recovery firsthand. As a Recovery Support Specialist, you will play a vital role in helping individuals on their path to recovery. In this position, you will provide direct peer support, advocacy, and education, empowering clients to articulate their recovery goals and helping them access the resources needed to achieve them. Your contributions will have a lasting impact, as you help clients regain independence and navigate their recovery journey. This position requires a compassionate individual who can connect with clients on a personal level, fostering a supportive environment that encourages growth and healing.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct peer support to clients in recovery.
  • Advocate for clients and assist them in regaining control of their lives.
  • Educate clients on recovery processes and available resources.
  • Help clients articulate their recovery goals and develop plans to achieve them.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation of client interactions and progress.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated recovery from a mental health or substance use disorder.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Reliable transportation.
  • Ability to build rapport and maintain positive relationships with clients, employers, and colleagues.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with a diverse range of individuals.
  • Empathy and compassion for clients in recovery.
  • Efficient in managing multiple tasks and meeting deadlines.
