About the position
The Peer Specialist at East Bay Community Action Program (EBCAP) plays a crucial role in the Behavioral Health Services Division, utilizing personal recovery experiences to support clients in their journey towards self-sufficiency and improved mental health. This position involves working within a multidisciplinary team to provide coaching, mentoring, and role-modeling for clients, helping them develop coping skills and recognize their strengths and weaknesses. The role requires a Peer Specialist and/or Wellness Coach Certification and involves a mix of scheduled hours, including some evenings and weekends.
Responsibilities
- Serve as a role-model for new and existing clients within the Health Home treatment environment.
- Assist peers in making behavioral and/or physical changes leading to positive lifestyle improvements.
- Utilize personal knowledge and experience of recovery to support clients.
- Help clients recognize their strengths and weaknesses.
- Provide tools for clients to learn coping skills.
- Role-model self-recovery and provide coaching and mentoring.
- Accompany a Community Treatment Specialist on client case management home visits.
Requirements
- Peer Specialist and/or Wellness Coach Certification obtained through the State of Rhode Island.
- Reliable transportation and valid driver's license with automobile insurance.
- Experience in case management.
- Ability to utilize EBCAP's electronic medical record system, NextGen.
