The Peer Support Specialist for the Community Mobile Team (CMT) is responsible for providing essential peer support services to clients who are receiving crisis and follow-up services in the community. This role is integral to the Community Mobile Team, acting as a vital liaison between clinicians, the community, and clients. The specialist brings a lived-experience perspective, which is a crucial element of Netcare's trauma-informed care approach. The position requires the individual to be trained and approved by the Ohio Mental Health and Addiction Services (OMHAS) as a Peer Support Specialist, ensuring that they are equipped to provide the necessary support and guidance to clients in crisis situations. The Peer Support Specialist will engage with clients in various capacities, including assisting in the implementation of treatment plans, monitoring client behaviors, and providing support during crisis situations. They will utilize their own recovery experiences to help clients develop the skills and knowledge necessary for their recovery journey. This includes mentoring clients, advocating for their needs, and helping them navigate the mental health system. The specialist will also be responsible for documenting interactions and observations in electronic health records, ensuring that all client interactions are accurately recorded and billed appropriately. In addition to direct client support, the Peer Support Specialist will train fellow personnel on the unique role of peer support, represent peers in Trauma Informed Care meetings, and engage in ongoing training to stay current with best practices in peer support services. The position requires flexibility, as the specialist may work in various locations and must manage multiple demands in a fast-paced environment. The role is designed to foster a supportive and positive relationship with clients, demonstrating hope and trust while maintaining professional boundaries and confidentiality.
