About the position

The Certified Peer Support Specialist/Group Facilitator role at AQCS involves providing structured activities aimed at promoting socialization, recovery, wellness, and self-advocacy among individuals facing mental health and substance abuse challenges. This position focuses on assisting clients in developing community living skills and fostering independence through peer support in a community setting.

Responsibilities

  • Provide structured activities that promote socialization and recovery.
  • Assist individuals in developing natural supports and maintaining community living skills.
  • Facilitate group sessions for individuals with common issues and needs.
  • Encourage self-advocacy among participants.
  • Document interactions and progress using BIRP documentation.

Requirements

  • Certified Peer Specialist (CPS) certification is required.
  • High school diploma or equivalent is mandatory.
  • Experience within the mental health field is necessary.
  • BIRP documentation experience is a plus.
  • Bachelor's degree is preferred.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience facilitating groups.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word and Excel).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
