About the position
The Peer Support Specialist role at Telecare Corporation is designed for individuals with lived experience in mental health recovery. The specialist will also provide consultation to promote a recovery-oriented culture within the organization and respond to critical situations with de-escalation skills, ensuring a supportive environment for individuals facing mental health or addiction challenges.
Responsibilities
- Engage and inspire members served to explore and meet their recovery goals.
- Facilitate meaningful conversations that assist individuals in their recovery journey.
- Provide consultation to the team to promote Telecare's Recovery Culture.
- Respond to critical situations with high-level engagement and de-escalation skills.
- Support a least restrictive environment for individuals experiencing mental health or addiction emergencies.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Successful completion of Peer Support Training / Certified Peer Specialist or Peer Employment Training within one year of hire.
- Experience as a beneficiary of the Behavioral Health system of care.
