About the position
The Mobile Crisis Outreach Peer Support Specialist at Sycamores plays a crucial role in providing immediate support to individuals experiencing mental health crises. This position involves responding to calls from the 988 mental health crisis hotline, working alongside clinicians to offer crisis stabilization, safety planning, and community resource consultation. The specialist utilizes their lived experience with mental health services to advocate for clients and support their recovery journey, ensuring they receive the necessary care and resources in a timely manner.
Responsibilities
- Respond to mental health crisis calls in collaboration with the Mobile Crisis Outreach Program clinician.
- Provide crisis stabilization and safety planning to individuals in need.
- Consult with consumers regarding community resources and available services.
- Advocate for client voice, choice, and self-determination in treatment planning.
- Utilize agency vehicles to transport consumers safely when necessary.
- Evaluate individuals in crisis to ensure their safety and coordinate care as needed.
- Maintain adherence to the Code of Ethics and all required licenses and certifications.
Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Possess a high school diploma or equivalent degree.
- Self-identify as having experience with recovery from mental illness or substance use disorder.
- Willingness to share lived experience with clients.
- Strong dedication to recovery and ethical practice.
- Valid California Driver License with an acceptable driving record.
Nice-to-haves
- Certification in Peer Support is preferred but not required.
