About the position

The Peer Support Specialist - Substance Use Navigator is responsible for linking patients with opioid use disorder (OUD) to medication for addiction treatment and other recovery services. This role supports the Emergency Department by identifying eligible patients and connecting them to available recovery services, playing a crucial part in addressing the opioid crisis within the community.

Responsibilities

• Link patients with opioid use disorder to medication for addiction treatment and recovery services.
• Support the Emergency Department by alerting staff of eligible patients.
• Advise and connect patients to available recovery services.
• Organize and prioritize work tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Work collaboratively in a diverse and inclusive environment.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• One year of community involvement experience is required.
• Comprehensive knowledge of local recovery and treatment community resources is required.
• Effective oral and written communication skills are required.
• Valid CA driver's license in good standing is required.

Nice-to-haves

• Certified Addiction Specialist (CAP) certificate is preferred.
• Certification as a medical interpreter/translator is preferred.
• Current American Heart Association (AHA) Healthcare Provider CPR card is preferred.
• Bilingual skills are preferred.
