About the position

This position is responsible for linking patients with opioid use disorder (OUD) to medication for addiction treatment and other recovery services, addressing the opioid crisis. The role supports the Emergency Department (ED) by alerting staff of eligible patients and advising and connecting them to available recovery services.

Responsibilities

  • Link patients with opioid use disorder (OUD) to medication for addiction treatment.
  • Alert Emergency Department staff of eligible patients for recovery services.
  • Advise and connect patients to available recovery services.
  • Organize and prioritize work tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Adapt to changing work priorities and manage multiple tasks concurrently.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • One year of community involvement experience is required.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of local recovery and treatment community resources is required.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills are required.
  • Valid CA driver's license in good standing is required.
  • Access to reliable transportation and ability to travel to patient's homes as needed is required.
  • Ability to work in a diverse and inclusive environment is required.
  • Personal presence characterized by honesty, integrity, and caring is required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Certified Addiction Specialist (CAP) certificate is preferred.
  • Certification as a medical interpreter/translator is preferred.
  • Current American Heart Association (AHA) Healthcare Provider CPR card is preferred.
  • Bilingual skills are preferred.
