About the position

The Peer Support Specialist at Straight Walk Family Services plays a crucial role in providing outpatient therapy and related clinical services to adult clients and their families. This position is part of the Assertive Community Treatment Teams (ACTT), which deliver high-intensity behavioral health services in the community, aiming to improve outcomes for individuals with severe mental illness who are at risk of psychiatric crises. The specialist will work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to address clients' mental health, substance use, vocational, and housing needs.

Responsibilities

• Work with Assertive Action Team for adults with severe mental disorders.
• Implement and maintain the program's philosophy, principles, and procedures in all facets of performance.
• Provide therapy, counseling, intervention, and/or education to clients in a professional manner.
• Deliver clinically appropriate treatment based on mental health assessments and treatment plans.
• Complete timely and accurate documentation.
• Meet audited tested requirements for service delivery.
• Ensure continuous reimbursable sessions for assigned clients.
• Participate in staff development opportunities to enhance professional growth and maintain licensure or certification.
• Engage in planned supervision and case consultation conferences.

Requirements

• Minimum of two years' experience in Mental Health Counseling.
• North Carolina licensure and insurance credentialing are highly recommended.
• Strong planning, time management, and organizational skills.
• Valid driver's license and access to a vehicle.
• Strong computer skills for documentation purposes.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality within HIPAA guidelines and organizational policies.
• Flexibility with scheduling and site locations, and ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
• Effective communication and professionalism.

Nice-to-haves

• Bachelor's degree in a related field (Preferred).
