About the position

SAIC is seeking an experienced PEGA Software Engineer to join a remote Agile Scrum team focused on strategic projects for the United States Department of Agriculture's Natural Resources and Conservation Division. The role involves analyzing, documenting, developing, testing, and implementing software system requirements to support business and mission systems. The successful candidate will work collaboratively within a SAFe Agile team to translate customer needs into custom software solutions, ensuring high reliability and integration of Pega applications.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop and test high-reliability applications.
  • Implement Pega 8.x solutions requiring integration.
  • Develop BPM/BRE business applications using Pega, including design, coding, configuration, testing, and maintenance.
  • Provide end user support for several applications.
  • Interact with other developers to build software solutions fitting scoped requirements.
  • Manage software application code using version control and problem tracking software.
  • Work effectively in an Agile software development environment.
  • Interact closely with federal customers.

Requirements

  • Must have resided in the U.S. for at least 3 consecutive years with the ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Software Engineering, or relevant discipline; additional experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
  • 3+ years development experience with at least 2 years development experience in Pega.
  • Must have completed Pega Certification: Pega Certified System Architect.
  • Design and Development experience using Pega PRPC (Pega Rules Process Commander) platform.
  • Hands-on experience with Pega Core concepts such as User interface, User experience, Skin rule, Case design, Data modeling, Reporting, Integration (REST and SOAP), Agents, Security, and Pega Unit test framework.
  • Working knowledge of Pega Class Hierarchy and Business Process Modeling.
  • Experience with code libraries.
  • Working knowledge of building unit tests within code base.
  • Experience working with and understanding JavaScript, CSS, and HTML.
  • Working knowledge of relational databases; creating and updating SQL statements.
  • Knowledge of OWASP or other secure coding practices.
  • Familiar with all phases of the software development lifecycle.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; focus on team collaboration.

Nice-to-haves

  • 5+ years development experience with 3+ years Pega experience.
  • 5+ years working experience 'post' certification.
  • Experience working with Atlassian Tools such as JIRA and Confluence.
  • Experience in Bitbucket and/or Git.
  • Experience with delivery of software solutions that execute in cloud environments.
  • Experience maintaining legacy applications and working in existing code bases.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automation tools.
  • Experience working in Scrum/Agile delivery teams; SAFe Agile experience is a bonus.
