About the position

SAIC is seeking an experienced Pega Software Engineer to join our Agile Scrum team, working remotely on strategic projects that support the United States Department of Agriculture's Natural Resources and Conservation Division. This role involves participating in the analysis, documentation, development, testing, and implementation of software system requirements that are essential for the business and mission systems needed by our customers. The successful candidate will work within a SAFe Agile team, regularly interacting with teammates, internal project leadership, and product owners/customers to determine needs and requirements. The engineer will work both as a team member and independently to translate these needs into custom software solutions that are peer-reviewed, tested, verified, and integrated. Primary duties include designing, developing, and testing high-reliability applications, providing end-user support for several applications, and collaborating with other developers to build software solutions that meet scoped requirements. The engineer will manage software application code using version control and problem tracking software, work effectively in an Agile software development environment, and interact closely with federal customers to ensure their needs are met.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Software Engineering, or relevant discipline; 4+ years of additional experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
  • 2+ years Pega development experience is required; 5+ years of experience is highly preferred.
  • Pega Certified System Architect.
  • Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a Public Trust Clearance based on USDA regulations.
  • Must have resided in the United States for the last 3 years consecutively.
  • Design and Development experience using Pega PRPC (Pega Rules Process Commander) platform.
  • Working knowledge of Pega Class Hierarchy and Business Process Modeling.
  • Experience with code libraries.
  • Working knowledge of building unit tests within code base.
  • Experience working with and understanding JavaScript, CSS, and HTML.
  • Working knowledge of relational databases; creating and updating SQL statements.
  • Knowledge of OWASP or other secure coding practices.
  • Familiar with all phases of the software development lifecycle.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; focus on team collaboration.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience working with Atlassian Tools such as JIRA and Confluence.
  • Experience in Bitbucket and/or Git.
  • Experience with delivery of software solutions that execute in cloud environments.
