About The Position

In the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection, as a limited duration employee, performs one or more of a variety of tasks and assigned duties of a seasonal nature. Positions available include Ticket Booth Attendants, Office Supervisors, Interpretive Guides, Maintainers, Crew Leaders, and Park Rangers, each with specific duties and seasonal availability.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years old for all positions.
  • Incumbents assigned as supervisors must perform emergency first aid as needed and obtain a Basic First Aid Certificate.
  • Proof of possession of a valid Motor Vehicle Operator license may be required for certain positions.
  • Possession of a valid license to apply pesticides may be required for certain positions.
  • Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification may be required by specific State facilities.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in retail and/or customer service for Ticket Booth Attendant.
  • Extensive experience in outdoor recreation management for Office Supervisor.
  • Experience in education or the natural sciences for Interpretive Guide.
  • Experience in custodial work, landscaping, or a related skilled trade for Maintainer and Crew Leader.
  • Experience with outdoor recreation facility operations for Park Ranger.

Responsibilities

  • Provides general ticket booth services including ringing up and accepting parking fees, selling season passes, greeting Park visitors, providing directions, checking in buses, and answering questions about the Park and local area.
  • Assists in the management of seasonal operations and programs in a recreational facility, resolves complaints, trains and supervises seasonal staff, evaluates work performance, and acts as primary visitor contact.
  • Acts as primary visitor contact, conducts interpretive programs to increase public understanding and appreciation of natural resources, and assists with program development.
  • Performs maintenance and operation tasks including litter pickup, cleaning, mowing, raking, and painting, and may use hand tools and machinery.
  • Supervises and works with an assigned crew of Seasonal Maintainers, assists in job planning, operates machinery, and performs routine maintenance on equipment.
  • Interacts with the public to assist them in the safe and orderly enjoyment of the Park, and assists with operational, maintenance, and protective duties.
