About the position

The People & Culture Manager at Columbia Hospitality is responsible for leading a team of People & Culture Business Partners and managing various HR functions including benefits administration, employee relations, training, performance management, and compliance with employment laws. This role is pivotal in supporting the organization's people strategy and ensuring a positive workplace culture at the Seattle Support Center.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of People & Culture Business Partners.
  • Provide guidance on employee relations, accommodations, and leaves of absence.
  • Act as a People & Culture Business Partner for the Seattle Support Center and assigned properties.
  • Support consulting projects for the company.
  • Serve as a backup for People & Culture during property transitions and openings.
  • Develop and facilitate training programs for People & Culture Business Partners.
  • Manage onboarding for new members of the People Support Team.
  • Create and implement standards for recording employee relations issues and investigations.
  • Maintain and update People & Culture policies and procedures on the company intranet.
  • Manage routine to complex employee relations issues and conduct thorough investigations.
  • Ensure compliance with legal requirements related to employee management.
  • Collaborate with other departments on plans, programs, and policies implementation.
  • Work closely with management and employees to improve work relationships and retention.
  • Complete projects as assigned by People & Culture leadership.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in HR or Business, or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant HR generalist/business partner experience.
  • Extensive experience in employee relations and performance management.
  • Knowledge of federal and state employment laws (EEO, FLSA, ADA, FMLA, HIPPA, OSHA).
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential situations with tact and diplomacy.
  • Strong consulting and communication skills with the ability to influence and negotiate.
  • Strong interviewing, fact-finding, and decision-making skills.
  • Proven success in building trusting relationships to achieve results.
