About the position

The People Operations Manager at Aegis Ventures will oversee the daily Human Resources functions, including payroll, benefits administration, employee relations, onboarding, legal compliance, and recruiting coordination. This role is crucial in collaborating with leadership to enhance HR policies and procedures, ensuring a supportive and efficient workplace as the company scales its health tech initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day Human Resources functions including payroll and benefits administration, employee relations, onboarding, and recruiting coordination.
  • Lead operational and administrative HR systems for performance management, talent acquisition, retention, learning, culture, and total rewards.
  • Prepare HR infrastructure to support headcount expansion across the studio and portfolio companies.
  • Oversee legal and regulatory compliance with employment laws, and manage employee relations.
  • Collaborate with leadership to audit HR systems for gaps and inefficiencies, and develop scalable processes.
  • Maintain and update HR policies and company guidelines with timely documentation.
  • Select and manage vendors for specialized HR services with high acuity.
  • Manage end-to-end onboarding and termination processes, including paperwork and logistics.
  • Resolve employee queries regarding HR logistics and support process changes.
  • Provide monthly reports to leadership on budget adherence, administrative metrics, and people analytics.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resource Management or related field (PHR or SPHR certification preferred).
  • 4-5+ years' experience in People Operations, preferably at an early to mid-stage startup.
  • Familiarity with Payroll/Benefits, Compliance, and TalentMindset for optimizing processes.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Acute discretion and sensitivity around confidential information.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with senior leadership.
  • Strong familiarity with government compliance regulations and best practices.
  • Ability to diagnose challenges and strategize HR solutions.
  • Natural gift for teaching and training, especially in change management.
  • Passion for working with people and continuous learning in HR best practices.
  • Familiarity with Gusto, Expensify, Google Suite, Lever ATS, Airtable, and other HR management software.
