About the position

Tuxedo Hospitality is seeking an experienced People Operations Manager to join our growing hospitality group based in New York City. This full-time role is based at our Headquarters in Downtown Manhattan and is essential for overseeing the full scope of People Operations responsibilities. The ideal candidate will thrive in various People Operations functions throughout an employee's lifecycle, demonstrating a detail-oriented and execution-focused approach while constantly pursuing excellence. Experience in NYC Hospitality compliance is a plus, as the role involves maintaining the organization's People Operations by planning, implementing, and evaluating policies, programs, and practices. In this position, you will assist in the talent acquisition process, which includes recruitment, interviewing, and hiring qualified job applicants. You will collaborate with departmental managers to understand the skills and competencies required for openings, coordinate and conduct reference and background checks, and assist with the onboarding of new employees. Ensuring the successful completion of all related compliance tasks and paperwork for payroll is crucial, as is conducting orientation programs and arranging on-the-job training for new hires. You will also oversee the end-to-end payroll process, from data entry to processing payroll deductions and post-payroll administration. This includes executing weekly salary payroll data for accuracy and compliance, approving employee reimbursements, and reviewing weekly hourly payroll data in collaboration with the People Operations Coordinator. Additionally, you will report on payroll insurance-related payments and questionnaires, including workers' compensation, disability, and paid family leave. As a People Operations Manager, you will lead, facilitate, and create training programs and curriculums for all staff-level employees, ensuring that training materials and programs are current and effective. You will communicate with management, trainers, and team members to ensure that all training needs are met. Furthermore, you will respond to employee relations concerns, assist department managers with disciplinary or mediation meetings, and coordinate group-wide meetings and staff events. Your role will also involve executing benefits administration, from enrollment and onboarding to answering employee inquiries regarding medical benefits, commuter benefits, and the employee dining program. Staying current on all local, state, and federal labor and employment laws is essential to ensure compliance and effective People Operations management.
