About the position

The People Operations Manager at the National Institute for Reproductive Health (NIRH) will oversee the daily operations of the HR department, focusing on employee relations, recruitment, performance management, and benefits administration. This role is crucial in fostering a positive workplace culture and ensuring compliance with employment laws, while also supporting the organization's growth and commitment to equity and inclusion.

Responsibilities

  • Support the development and implementation of NIRH's recruitment and retention strategy.
  • Manage the employee journey, including onboarding and recognition of employee accomplishments.
  • Implement and manage comprehensive employee benefits, providing information about health insurance options and retirement plans.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations as a multi-state employer.
  • Respond to requests and provide information to third parties regarding employment verification and claims processing.
  • Provide coaching and mediation to employees on performance-related matters.
  • Maintain all platforms related to People Operations, including employee databases and payroll systems.
  • Ensure all personnel policies are up to date and compliant with employment laws.
  • Distribute policies through an Employee Handbook and provide training to employees.
  • Participate in educational opportunities to update job knowledge and maintain professional networks.
  • Contribute to building a strong and collaborative team culture grounded in racial equity and inclusion.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience as an HR Generalist, Employee Relations Manager, or equivalent role.
  • Strong problem-solving, reporting, and analytical skills.
  • Knowledge of payroll systems, with experience in ADP Total Source being a plus.
  • Ability to research and analyze problems at a high level, providing feedback and guidance.
  • Working knowledge of employment law, performance management, and conflict resolution.
  • Well-developed writing and presentation skills.
  • Ability to communicate clearly across all levels of the organization.
  • Discretion, sensitivity, and confidentiality in handling information.
  • Demonstrated ability to listen, analyze, and inform appropriately.
