About the position

Alvarez & Marsal's CFO Services team works closely with private equity-held portfolio companies to provide tailored solutions aimed at preserving and generating value for their businesses. The primary objective is to enhance transparency regarding key drivers of business performance, thereby supporting the increase of cash flow and EBITDA. The team is dedicated to ensuring that private equity firms have credible plans in place and the capability to execute these plans effectively to achieve desired financial outcomes. The CFO Services encompass several critical areas, including Liquidity & Working Capital Optimization, Strategic Analytics & Planning, Performance Measurement & Management, Business Transformation, and Auxiliary Services such as Accounting Remediation. Each of these pillars is designed to address specific challenges faced by portfolio companies and to facilitate their growth and operational efficiency. In this role, associates will be expected to engage in data collection, validation, and analysis, ensuring that all relevant data is accurately processed to support fact-based analyses. This includes validating data used in calculations and reconciling models and reports. Associates will also be responsible for compiling their findings into clear and concise spreadsheet templates and presentation slides. Project management skills will be essential, as associates will execute operational tasks independently, develop tools and templates for client use, and ensure the quality of their work products. Teamwork is a vital aspect of this position, as associates will collaborate with team members and view all interactions as opportunities for learning. A solid understanding of financial modeling and financial statements is crucial, as associates will need to comprehend the cause-and-effect relationships within trial balance accounts.

Responsibilities

  • Collect, validate, and analyze relevant data and information to complete fact-based analyses.
  • Validate all data used in calculations and reconcile models and reports individually and in aggregate.
  • Compile findings into cogent and digestible spreadsheet templates and presentation slides.
  • Execute operational tasks independently, including the development of tools/templates for client use and slide deck development.
  • Quality check one's own work product to ensure it addresses the subject question and is free from error.
  • Set up tools and utilize client software/apps to access client data.
  • Collaboratively work with other team members and offer knowledge sharing opportunities.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited 4-year college/university with a concentration in accounting, finance, or economics preferred but not required.
  • 2-4 years of experience in Accounting/Finance, Financial Due Diligence, Restructuring, Investment Banking, or Private Equity.
  • Experience in building integrated financial models and strong Excel/PowerPoint skills.
  • Possess financial modeling experience and a basic understanding of financial statements, treasury, and cash management.
