About the position

The Director of Operations for the Process Industry Team at Alvarez & Marsal is responsible for leading performance improvement initiatives for private equity firms. This role involves managing complex projects across various sectors, including chemicals, food and beverage, and pharmaceuticals, to enhance operational efficiency and drive value creation. The position requires a hands-on approach to consulting, with a focus on delivering strategic recommendations and implementing operational improvements.

Responsibilities

• Lead teams through time-sensitive projects by structuring performance improvement plans and managing processes to completion.
• Synthesize meaningful insights from data, facts, and discussions with clients.
• Develop findings and make strategic recommendations based on analysis.
• Work directly with clients to implement strategic and operational recommendations.
• Provide transaction support including commercial and operational due diligence, carve-out assessments, and post-merger integration.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience implementing operating and cost improvement programs and/or commercial and margin management improvements.
• MBA and/or Masters in Science/Engineering from a top-tier school with strong financial analytical skills.
• Previous experience with a recognized strategy or operations consulting firm is strongly preferred.
• Hands-on industry experience in chemicals, energy, plastics, industrial, agribusiness/food, pharmaceuticals, or specialty chemicals is strongly preferred.
• Strong written, oral, and analytical skills, with proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience working with private equity and/or private equity relationships is a plus.
• Flexibility to travel up to 80% of the time.
