About the position

The Manager of CFO Services at A&M plays a pivotal role in working with private equity-held portfolio companies to deliver solutions that enhance value preservation and generation. The primary objective is to improve transparency regarding key business drivers and performance metrics, thereby supporting the increase of cash flow and EBITDA. This position involves hands-on engagement with clients to ensure that private equity firms have credible plans and the capability to execute and achieve desired financial outcomes. CFO Services encompasses several key areas, including Liquidity & Working Capital Optimization, Strategic Analytics & Planning, Performance Measurement & Management, Business Transformation, and Auxiliary Services such as Accounting Remediation. The Manager will be responsible for data collection, validation, and analysis, guiding team members in the information-gathering process, and ensuring that all relevant sources of information are pursued. This includes leading client interviews, asking insightful questions, and understanding the perspectives of various stakeholders. The role requires identifying knowledge gaps, challenging the status quo, and developing better assumptions. The Manager will pinpoint key business challenges, forecast liquidity needs, and assess financial and accounting process inefficiencies. Clear and concise presentation of issues and opportunities is essential. Additionally, the Manager will oversee project management and implementation, ensuring that project approaches, timelines, and deliverables are logical and accurate. Leadership is a critical component of this role, as the Manager will leverage their experience to guide and promote innovative thinking within the team. Recognizing the current skill sets of team members and maximizing their contributions is vital. The Manager will also share knowledge, provide coaching, and foster a collaborative environment. Financial acumen is necessary to build and review financial models, conduct valuable financial analyses, and evaluate accounting treatments, providing insights and improvement initiatives to senior management and board members.

Responsibilities

  • Guide team members in information gathering and ensure all relevant sources of information are pursued.
  • Lead client interviews, ask inquisitive questions, and understand different stakeholders' perspectives.
  • Identify knowledge gaps and guide the team to challenge the status quo and develop better assumptions.
  • Pinpoint key business challenges and forecast liquidity needs accurately.
  • Assess financial/accounting process inefficiencies and evaluate the organization's design, roles, and team.
  • Present issues and opportunities clearly and concisely.
  • Own and complete workstreams based on the pillars of services provided by CFO Services.
  • Set and communicate client expectations consistently throughout projects.
  • Create actionable plans to optimize working capital and improve transparency in processes and organizations.
  • Identify risks and obstacles early, create contingency plans, and communicate timely with clients.
  • Leverage previous experience to guide and promote innovative thinking within the team.
  • Recognize team members' skill sets and maximize their contributions through coaching and knowledge sharing.
  • Build and review financial models and provide valuable financial analysis to senior management.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited 4-year college/university with a concentration in accounting, finance, or economics preferred but not required.
  • 7-10 years of experience in Accounting/Finance, Financial Due Diligence, Restructuring, Investment Banking, or Private Equity.
  • Proficient in financial modeling, data analytics programs, and presentation skills.
  • CPA, CFA, or Master's Degree preferred but not required.
