About the position

The Manager of CFO Services at Alvarez & Marsal (A&M) plays a pivotal role in working with private equity-held portfolio companies to deliver solutions that enhance and generate value for their businesses. The primary objective of the CFO Services team is to improve transparency regarding key drivers of business performance, support the increase of cash flow and EBITDA, and provide tangible benefits through active involvement in client operations. This position is integral in assisting private equity firms to ensure that their portfolio companies have credible financial plans and the capability to execute and achieve desired financial outcomes. CFO Services encompasses several key areas, including Liquidity & Working Capital Optimization, Strategic Analytics & Planning, Performance Measurement & Management, Business Transformation, and Auxiliary Services such as Accounting Remediation. The role requires a strong focus on data collection, validation, and analysis, guiding team members in effective information gathering, and ensuring that all relevant sources of information are utilized. The Manager will lead client interviews, ask probing questions, and understand the perspectives of various stakeholders to identify knowledge gaps and challenge the status quo. In addition to analytical skills, the Manager will be responsible for project management and implementation, owning and completing workstreams based on the CFO Services pillars. This includes setting realistic project approaches, timelines, and deliverables, as well as communicating client expectations consistently. The role demands the ability to identify risks and obstacles early, create contingency plans, and maintain timely communication with clients. Leadership is a critical component of this position, as the Manager will leverage their experience to guide and inspire the team to think innovatively. Recognizing the current skill sets of team members and maximizing their contributions is essential. The Manager will also share knowledge and provide coaching to teammates, fostering a collaborative and growth-oriented environment. Financial acumen is vital, as the Manager will be expected to build and review various financial models, conduct valuable financial analyses, and evaluate accounting treatments. Providing insights and improvement initiatives to senior management and board members is a key responsibility, ensuring that the financial strategies align with the overall business objectives.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited 4-year college/university with a concentration in accounting, finance, or economics preferred but not required.
  • 7-10 years of experience in Accounting/Finance, Financial Due Diligence, Restructuring, Investment Banking, or Private Equity.
  • Proficient in financial modeling, data analytics programs, and presentation skills.
  • CPA, CFA, or Master's Degree preferred but not required.
