About the position

The Manager of CFO Services at Alvarez & Marsal (A&M) plays a pivotal role in working with private equity-held portfolio companies to deliver solutions that enhance value preservation and generation. The primary objective is to improve transparency regarding key business drivers and performance metrics, thereby supporting the enhancement of cash flow and EBITDA. This position involves hands-on engagement with clients to ensure they have credible financial plans and the capability to execute these plans effectively, ultimately delivering favorable financial outcomes. CFO Services encompasses several key pillars, including Liquidity & Working Capital Optimization, Strategic Analytics & Planning, Performance Measurement & Management, Business Transformation, and Auxiliary Services such as Accounting Remediation. The Manager will be responsible for data collection, validation, and analysis, guiding team members in their information-gathering efforts, and ensuring that all relevant sources of information are pursued. This role requires leading client interviews, asking insightful questions, and understanding the perspectives of various stakeholders. In addition to data analysis, the Manager will oversee project management and implementation, ensuring that project approaches, timelines, and deliverables are logical and accurate. The ability to identify risks and obstacles early, create contingency plans, and communicate effectively with clients is essential. Leadership skills are crucial, as the Manager will leverage their experience to guide and promote innovative thinking within the team, maximizing each member's contribution through coaching and knowledge sharing. Financial acumen is a key requirement, as the Manager will build and review financial models, provide valuable financial analysis, and evaluate accounting treatments. The role also involves offering insights and improvement initiatives to senior management and board members, ensuring that the CFO Services provided are functioning optimally and delivering value to clients.

Responsibilities

  • Guide team members in information gathering and ensure all relevant sources of information are pursued.
  • Lead client interviews, ask inquisitive questions, and understand different stakeholders' perspectives.
  • Identify knowledge gaps and guide the team to challenge the status quo and develop better assumptions.
  • Identify key business challenges and accurately forecast liquidity needs.
  • Pinpoint financial/accounting process inefficiencies and assess the organization's design, roles, and team.
  • Ensure issues and opportunities are clearly and concisely presented to clients.
  • Understand accounting and finance process flows to ensure improvement and value creation.
  • Own and complete a workstream based on the pillars of services provided by CFO Services.
  • Set and communicate client expectations consistently throughout the project.
  • Employ actionable plans to optimize working capital and improve transparency in processes and organizations.
  • Identify risks and obstacles early on and create contingency plans.
  • Leverage previous experience to guide and promote innovative thinking within the team.
  • Build and review various financial models and provide valuable financial analysis.
  • Provide insights and improvement initiatives to senior management and board members.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited 4-year college/university with a concentration in accounting, finance, or economics preferred but not required.
  • 7-10 years of experience in Accounting/Finance, Financial Due Diligence, Restructuring, Investment Banking, or Private Equity.
  • Proficient in financial modeling, data analytics programs, and presentation skills.
  • CPA, CFA, or Master's Degree preferred but not required.
