About the position

The Manager of CFO Services at Alvarez & Marsal (A&M) plays a pivotal role in working with private equity-held portfolio companies to deliver solutions that enhance value and operational efficiency. The primary objective of this position is to improve transparency regarding key business drivers and performance metrics, ultimately supporting the enhancement of cash flow and EBITDA for our clients. This role involves hands-on engagement with clients to ensure they have credible financial plans and the capability to execute these plans effectively, thereby achieving desired financial outcomes. CFO Services encompasses several critical areas, including Liquidity & Working Capital Optimization, Strategic Analytics & Planning, Performance Measurement & Management, Business Transformation, and Auxiliary Services such as Accounting Remediation. As a Manager, you will be responsible for guiding your team in data collection, validation, and analysis, ensuring that all relevant information sources are explored. You will lead client interviews, asking insightful questions to understand various stakeholders' perspectives and identify knowledge gaps. Your role will also involve challenging the status quo, validating assumptions, and presenting issues and opportunities clearly and concisely. In terms of project management, you will own and complete workstreams based on the CFO Services pillars, ensuring that project approaches, timelines, and deliverables are logical and accurate. You will set and communicate client expectations consistently, develop actionable plans to optimize working capital, and instill a liquidity-focused culture within client organizations. Identifying risks and obstacles early on and creating contingency plans will be essential to your success in this role. Leadership is a key component of this position, as you will leverage your experience to guide and inspire your team to think innovatively. Recognizing the current skill sets of team members and maximizing their contributions will be crucial. You will also share your knowledge and provide coaching to teammates, fostering a collaborative and high-performing team environment. Financial acumen is vital, as you will be expected to build and review various financial models, conduct valuable financial analyses, and evaluate accounting treatments. Your insights and improvement initiatives will be presented to senior management and board members, making your role integral to the financial health of our clients.

Responsibilities

  • Guide team members in information gathering and ensure all relevant sources of information are pursued.
  • Lead client interviews, asking inquisitive questions to understand different stakeholders' perspectives.

  • Pinpoint financial/accounting process inefficiencies and assess the organization's design, roles, and team.

  • Ensure project approaches, timelines, and deliverables are logical, reasonable, and accurate.

  • Identify risks and obstacles early, creating contingency plans and communicating timely with clients.
  • Leverage previous experience to guide and promote innovative thinking within the team.
  • Recognize team members' skill sets and maximize their contributions through coaching and knowledge sharing.
  • Build and review financial models, providing valuable financial analysis and evaluating accounting treatments.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited 4-year college/university with a concentration in accounting, finance, or economics preferred but not required.
  • 7-10 years of experience in Accounting/Finance, Financial Due Diligence, Restructuring, Investment Banking, or Private Equity.
  • Proficient in financial modeling, data analytics programs, and presentation skills.
  • CPA, CFA, or Master's Degree preferred but not required.
