About the position

The Senior Director of CFO Services at A&M plays a pivotal role in working with private equity-held portfolio companies to deliver solutions that enhance value preservation and generation. This position is focused on improving transparency regarding key business drivers and performance metrics, ultimately supporting the increase of cash flow and EBITDA for clients. The Senior Director will engage directly with private equity firms to ensure that their portfolio companies are equipped with credible financial plans and the capability to execute these plans effectively, thereby achieving desired financial outcomes. CFO Services encompasses several key areas, including Liquidity & Working Capital Optimization, Strategic Analytics & Planning, Performance Measurement & Management, and Business Transformation. Additionally, Auxiliary Services such as Accounting Remediation are provided to address specific client needs. The Senior Director will be responsible for hypothesis and scope development, connecting with private equity and client executive teams to gather essential information and ensure comprehensive data analysis. This role requires a deep understanding of organizational challenges and the ability to identify actionable paths forward for clients. In terms of project management and implementation, the Senior Director will develop complex business improvement plans and lead various initiatives focused on private equity, including interim management roles, liquidity management, business transformation, performance improvement, and accounting remediation. Maintaining and developing long-term client relationships is crucial, as is the ability to manage client expectations and risks proactively. The Senior Director will also need to convince senior management and board members of key business focuses and secure buy-in for implementation plans. Leadership is a critical aspect of this role, requiring the Senior Director to apply industry expertise to create and deliver innovative solutions. Accountability for client relationship management and team deliverables is essential, as is the ability to drive urgency in addressing critical issues. The Senior Director will also be responsible for identifying financial and accounting weaknesses within organizations and providing remediation strategies moving forward. Financial acumen is paramount, with the ideal candidate possessing experience in the role of CFO and a proven track record of delivering value to businesses. Experience in controllership, finance, and accounting advisory services is also highly valued. The position requires a graduate of an accredited four-year college or university, preferably with a concentration in accounting, finance, or economics, along with over 12 years of relevant experience in accounting, finance, financial due diligence, restructuring, investment banking, or private equity. Prior experience as a CFO in private equity-backed portfolio companies is preferred, along with proficiency in financial models, data analytics, and presentation skills. Professional accreditations such as CPA, CFA, or an MBA are preferred but not mandatory.

Responsibilities

  • Connect with Private Equity and client's Executive team to facilitate information gathering and ensure all relevant data are considered and pursued.
  • Assess critical issues given the organizational challenges and identify a path forward for the client.
  • Challenge analyses and conclusions to ensure they are complete, accurate, fact-based, and reflective of the situation.
  • Identify holes in analyses that lead to a disconnect between solution recommendation and results.
  • Apply industry and functional knowledge to identify business drivers and issues.
  • Develop complex business improvement plans and lead all projects independently.
  • Deliver on Private Equity focused initiatives such as Interim Management Roles, Liquidity Management, Business Transformation, Performance Improvement, and Accounting Remediation.
  • Proactively manage client's expectations and risk management; maintain and develop client relationships for long term opportunities.
  • Convince senior management and board members of key business focus, obtaining buy-in for implementation plans.
  • Anticipate risks and obstacles, and be vigilant and diligent about reassessing issues and risks as plans and approaches change.
  • Identify finance and accounting weaknesses in the organization and provide remediation going forward.
  • Engage in developing and delivering creative solutions using industry expertise pragmatically.
  • Drive client and team to a sense of urgency relative to critical issues.
  • Assign appropriate resources, remove barriers, and monitor project outcomes.

Requirements

  • Graduate of accredited 4-year college/university with educational concentration in relevant areas (accounting, finance, economics) preferred but not required.
  • Over 12 years of experience related to Accounting/Finance, Financial Due Diligence, Restructuring, Investment Banking or Private Equity.
  • Prior experience as CFO in Private Equity Backed Portfolio Companies preferred.
  • Possess a track record of successfully delivering complex projects and leading holistic performance improvement projects.
  • Complete proficiency in understanding financial models, data analytics, and presentation skills.
  • CPA, CFA, MBA, or Master's Degree Preferred but not Required.
