About the position
The Per Diem Athletic Trainer will provide athletic training services and administrative support to organizations affiliated with JAG Athletic Training in New York. This role involves maintaining state licensure, delivering preventative and emergency care at athletic events, and collaborating with healthcare professionals to ensure effective medical management for athletes. Ideal candidates should possess a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Athletic Training and demonstrate adaptability in dynamic situations while adhering to professional standards and ethics.
Responsibilities
- Provide athletic training services for athletic events and competitions.
- Coordinate, manage, and implement medical and risk management for all athletes, including preventative care (taping, bracing) and emergency care (CPR, first aid).
- Document injury, illness, treatment, and rehabilitation in compliance with JAG Athletic Training policies and state licensure standards.
- Utilize effective communication skills to involve athletes, families, and others in the care plan while adhering to HIPAA/FERPA guidelines.
- Collaborate with other JAG professionals, such as Physical Therapists, and refer for services when necessary.
- Regularly communicate with the supervising physician regarding standard operating procedures.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Athletic Training from a CAATE approved program.
- Completion of the BOC certification and maintenance of 50 CEUs per certification period.
- Licensed by the State of New York as an Athletic Trainer.
- Current BLS certification.
- Maintain Personal Liability Insurance.
- Flexibility and adaptability to adjust to fluid situations.
